Exclusive: GPRS Faceoff

January 17, 2008 By Rohan Kamath 2 Comments

Being connected to the Internet through your mobile phone is a great idea, especially when you are on the move or away from home. Operators have tried to pull in many users based on this proposition and have managed o succeed. What we did was a comparative study of the operators providing such service to users.

Note: This study is done as per the rates applicable in Mumbai circle.

Airtel Mobile Office:

This service comes for a flat fee of Rs.399 and provides 100 MB of free surfing.

Trump GPRS:

The operator offers a choice when it comes to choosing a service. Here are the choices.

Vodafone Mobile Connect:

Here Vodafone offers two options for its users. The first one offers 500MB usage for Rs.499 and 5paise/10kb i.e. Rs.5 per MB after that. The second option comes at a price of Rs.199 with charges being Rs.5 per MB.

Tata Indicom Internet through Mobile:

Tata Indicom too provides multiple options ranging from monthly to yearly plans. Here they are:

BPL Mobile:

This operator seems to be offering rent-free GPRS. We really can’t comment if it is applicable for PC connection or not. But the charges provided are @ Rs.5/MB. On the same page the charges for the service are given as Rs.499. No other information provided.

Our Verdict:

The Trump plan clearly emerges as a winner among its competition. Even in the unlimited plan the operator has a clear advantage over the others.

    In Trump Gprs service the
Data charges is 1 pais 1 kb
So if yoo download 5 kb the u charge for 5paisa not 10paisa.

So 10paisa for 10kb Fact is wrong in this artical.

The speed of GPRS is also nice In Trump in compair to vodafone and air tel.
In Rent free plan You can Connect the PC with Trump only not with any other operator
