MTNL all set to provide 3G services for Dolphin and Trump
MTNL Chairman and Managing Director R S P Sinha announced that the public sector telecom operator is all set to provide third generation (3G) mobile services and will soon launch Internet Protocol Television (IPTV) without broadband.
"We are always into providing latest technology to our customers.
Against other operators, we are providing broadband services at the cheapest possible rate. Soon, we expect to launch an IPTV without broadband," Sinha told reporters here.
"The company is all set to provide 3G services. We are awaiting the spectrum allocation after which we will start providing these services," he said.
After the launch of 3G services, subscribers will be able to make video calls on their mobile handsets and avail a host of other video and data services due to high data throughput even up to 3.6 Mbps possible in 3G technology, Sinha said.

Highly placed sources said the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) will soon allow MTNL to render landline, broadband and IPTV services in the National Capital Region (NCR). These inlcude areas like Noida, Gurgaon, Faridabad and Ghaziabad, as also the adjoining areas of Mumbai.

The sources said MTNL has applied to DoT for a unified access service licence (UASL).Now company has basic service licence for landline services and a cellular mobile licence for mobile services.
The cellular licence takes the NCR or the adjoining areas of Mumbai as one circle, so that MTNL can give mobile services in these areas. However, the basic service licence separates the circles.
