RCom crosses 50 mn mobile subscribers mark

Reliance Communications on Monday became the fifth mobile operator in Asia to cross 50 mn mobile subscribers mark. The company announced that it added 1.74 mn new mobile subscribers during the month of June 2008 which is the highest ever monthly subscriber addition to its user base.

RCom’s closest rival Bharti Airtel added the highest number of subscribers among all GSM operators in June 2008 at 2.55 mn subscribers making it a total user base of 69.3 mn.

Reliance Jaadu Pack 35

Reliance has launched the Jaadu Pack to make STD calling cheaper for you. This plan allows users to make STD and local calls at a fixed rate of Re.1. The other details of the plan are:

  • Charge: Rs.35
  • Benefit duration: 30days
  • Local and STD calls: Re.1
  • Incoming on Roaming: Re.1
  • Outgoing on Roaming: Rs.1.5

We say: The Pack is quite cool as it offers STD at a cheaper rate. The next good thing about it is that it brings roaming call charges at a level that’s being followed by the market, which is quite fair.

RCom’s new bill plans

After having launched one of the best SMS packs known to us (5,000 SMS’s for Rs.95), RCom didn’t give any more shocks to write about them. And now they’ve come up with the ideal plan for all its user segments. Here it goes:

Analyzing the above plans in the order they are in, My Local plan which comes for Rs.299 per month gives a very good value for money. It is similar to the GSM operators full value plans, but is better in the way that it offers (300 mins.) free calling to other networks also. The call rates thereafter are also quite good.

Reliance Mobile’s Rs. 199 Lifetime prepaid

RelComm

So it started with Rs. 999 then Rs. 499 and now Rs. 199. Reliance Mobile has announced their aggressive decision to launch a lifetime prepaid card which will be the cheapest offering up till now.

Two years back, they were the ones to introduce a lifetime prepaid card which made other operators to follow the suit.

And this year too, they are starting a trend. So what’s so special this year apart from a reduction in price? Well they have removed the restriction of recharging a certain amount to keep the number active. A user can enjoy uninterrupted service for lifetime.

This is a smart move by them because an influx of new subscribers would mean that they can pitch in their VAS to more customers. After all, it is the highest profit making area for the operators.

The offer will be out soon in the market.

UPDATE: As pointed by our reader, Reliance indeed wants us to recharge with a minimum of Rs. 200.

Reliance Mblog - Share with the World

Blogging is emerging as a recent trend all over the world. So Reliance Mobile came up with an idea to give budding bloggers a helping hand with its MBlog. This is a stage for bloggers to publish their content and share it with the world.

To make it easy to understand, Reliance gives you the freedom to put content online. This content includes photos, sounds, text and videos. You can do so from your cellphone through SMS or MMS. This would then be showcased on the Reliance Blog (Internet) and would be open for comments to other bloggers or uesrs.

This concept is new to Indian cellphone users, being one of the reasons for the Blog not being well accepted. The stage features 3 blogs in each of the 3 categories and it’s not much fun. Just in case you want to join in: Send in your blog content to 51234 and Blog on…
