Airtel Triple 3 Plan

July 28, 2008 By Rohan Kamath 4 Comments

We’ve heard of 299, 399 999. But this one is a bit different. This one is a 333 Plan by Airtel, with the number signifying the monthly rental you will have to shell out each month. Let’s have a look at the plan details:

  • Monthly Rental: Rs.333
  • Local calling to Airtel networks: 50paise
  • Local calls to other networks: 75paise
  • STD calls to all networks: Rs.1.5
  • Local SMS: 50paise
  • National SMS: Rs.1.5
  • Free 111 local minutes to Airtel
  • Free 111 Local minutes to all mobiles
  • Free 111 Local SMS

We say: It gives us great pleasure to see free calling and SMS to all networks being provided by Airtel. Though it doesn’t seem much, it would be beneficial when it comes to paying your bill. This one passes our test and gets a thumbs up, thanks to affordable calling and messaging rates.

Its NOT deserve the thumbs up! because minimum commitment is 374 per month!!
1.With this plan if we calculate Local call and SMS charge then effective cost is Rs.1.12 per call and sms(Local) for Frist 333 minutes, So that its very costly in compair to other GSM operators like MTNL/BPL and Other(The plan COST is Rs.333+41(service Tax@12.36%=Rs.374 per month.
2.The STD call 1.50 is bit costly, why AirTel didnt provide STD at Rs.1 for all High End User, who call 300 and more per month?

    @Sanjay

Thanks for your opinion. But I will like to make our point clear.

This plan is specially designed for people having high local usage. So if you only consider the free benefits this plan is offering, you are absolutely correct.

But apart from free calling, this plan also provides for reduced local calling and SMS rates which is the actual crunch of it.

In such plans, the more is your usage, more benefit you can extract from the plan.

Also, for the STD rates, Airtel has not made any changes in it simply because the plan is designed keeping in mind consumers who have local usage.

    Keep your suggestions flowing in…
    Thanks.
