UPDATED here.
To commemorate the 60th Independence Day, Airtel has come up with a new prepaid scheme, Jaya He. Starting with the call rates, local calls to any number costs Rs. 0.50/min, STD calls are charged at just Re. 1 with Roaming charges at also Re. 1. The pack also gives 10 mins of free calling daily on roaming. SMS all over India is flat at Re. 1.
Aren’t you drooling to get your hands on the new pack? But wait, this is just one side of the coin.
The initial cost of buying a Jaya He Sim Card is Rs. 610. That’s expensive if you ask me. And yea, it does not carry any talktime or validity. You have to fill in the regular recharge denominations or Top ups for the talktime and in addition shell out Rs. 211 for a zero talktime/validity recharge every month just to keep the Jaya He scheme active.
We Say
The final call is of course yours. If your monthly calls range from between Rs. 600 – Rs. 1000, then this scheme may somehow help you because of cheap call rates. But if you’re a user where you can pass a month with just around Rs. 300 then this could hurt your pocket. And also one of the drawback is that existing users cannot convert their numbers to avail Jaya He pack. Only new numbers are eligible.
One of the First Flop Scheme From Airtel! Never Expexted that Airtel would Launch Schemes Like this.
If you are Shelling Rs. 600 every month then why are you on Prepaid its better to switch on to POSTPAID
Yea Keyur you may be right. But I have seen many of my friends still sticking to prepaid for a simple reason (can be biased) that companies overcharge post paid customers
Is this scheme available in all circles ??
@Jigar: We are not sure about it.
