Mumbai Airtel users facing network problems

July 18, 2008 By Kunal Gangar 18 Comments

Our readers from Mumbai are reporting about some network problem with Airtel. Since morning some of the readers are facing “Emergency Calls” only. The apparent reason for this network failure seemed due to the fire in a building in South Mumbai. South Mumbai users are the worst affected but according to the officials, the problem will be resolved soon.

    dear readers,

    i would rather express that MTNL provides better service than bloody Airtel, but ppl think that i affects the status of the person if u uses Garuda/Dophin so VOdafone is the best option, they have claimed in an iterview few years back that they have enhanced Back Up system,
    beleive me AIRTEL sucks big time, it’s now concentrating on so called ‘INSURANCE’, common guys be practical, you wont rather buy a Nokia car, right??

    Alrite fellas … I understand its absolutely valid to grumble about the lack of services from Airtel and the feeling that we ought to change over to an another service provider but the there’s a major problem although it is temporary. Soon, the services will get back on track! Lets keep a second sim in our kitty to help us through this mess but then hey, airtel has superior services than Vodafone. I am an ex-Vodafone user and Airtel rocks!

    Hi,
    I’m Airtel pre-paid subscriber for 4-5 yrs. Due to recent fire @ Airel’s Site, my O/goin and incoming both were not working. This non connectivity was due to Network provider’s fault and not customer’s.Since, The customer care tel lines were not reachable, I requested @ their customer care center to increase the validity period by 5-6 days. Today my outgoing calls are stopped as it’s not recharged. When checked with the cust care no. I was informed that validity period will not be extended and I’ll have to re charge.
    This’s utter insensitive approach about the custoemr’s inconvinience.

    @Mukund Karkare

    I feel that you are asking too much for a accident which happened because of nobodys fault.

    These companies cannot fulfill individual requests under such conditions, rather it is expected from their end that they focus on the bigger picture, and this is something exactly what Airtel plans to do. They are increasing the Traffic carrying capacity in Mumbai, to avoid such mishaps in future. For more info check out:

    Another point I’ll like to mention is that, giving free validity to a customer is not in the hands of the customer care department.

    You can talk to the Nodal officers if you still need your issue to be soughted out.

    Airtel needs to put up a tower or two near Matunga (CR) station. I have experienced almost nil signal strength at this particular location. Anybody facing the same issue ?
