Now a days, everyone is on the search for a cool phone number which they can flaunt. These are vanity or special numbers, for which operators charge a premium. Take the case of Tata, which bids these special numbers. But BSNL is playing it fair, with a price range of Rs. 1,000-3,000 for these numbers.

The state-run operator has categorized these numbers into three, on the basis of their exclusivity. Here they are::

plans

We Say:: We think that the price of the numbers being offered is quite affordable. However, we are not too sure if BSNL will have any remaining. If it has, we definitely recommend going in for this one.

We posted about MTNL and BSNL’s video conferencing services coming under the Intelligence Bureau’s scanner. The IB had asked the two operators to stop offering these services to users for the time being, the main reason being that the IB did not have access to monitor these services.

However, both operators are of the view that they have adhered to all security measures and will not put a pause to the services. The refusal to put a hold is quite evident if you happen to browse through BSNL’s website, which has Deepika Padukone – BSNL’s brand ambassador promoting the operators Video conferencing calls. As an introductory offer, the operator is allowing users to use web-conferencing free of charge. The user just has to call a toll-free number -1800-111-233 and get the service activated.

Tata Telecommunication ties up with Play – a Polish telecom firm

March 6, 2009 By Kunal Gangar Leave a Comment

Tata Telecommunication announced its tie up with a Poland based telecom firm ‘Play’. This tie up will foster Tata Telecom’s plans to route all its international call traffic through Play.

Play will implement Tata’s voice termination product ‘VTS Prime Solution’ to manage Tata Tele’s customer call quality. VTS Prime will allow Tata Tele to pass on the entire burden of ensuring high quality international calls to Play.

Play’s Carrier Relations director Piotr Kuriata said in a statement, “We chose to work with Tata Communications because of their extensive network backbone and experience, which was well positioned to fully manage and support issues our company was facing as a start-up operator”.

We Say: This move hints about Tata Tele’s plans of moving global. Previously they linked up with DoCoMo and now this venture with Play will definitely give Tata’s an edge in the CDMA category.

Tata Indicom Streaming TV

December 9, 2008 By Rohan Kamath Leave a Comment

Have you ever felt the need to watch News or India’s Cricket Match when you are on the go? If you have, then here’s something for you. First launched by MTNL, the Streaming TV service, now launched by Tata Indicom offers you 25 channels. Some of them, like News channels would be brought to you live, while the others would be recorded versions of already telecasted programmes.

The service, which has been priced at a whopping Rs. 15 for 5 minutes of usage, may not be affordable to the common man. However, given a choice, people may opt for this one if the need arises. The range of channels being offered is quite wide, with News, Entertainment, Regional and Cartoon channels being a part of the offering. However, it might not be able to withstand competition from MTNL in terms of the price of the service.
