Vodafone – wherever you go we follow.

May 26, 2008 By Rohan Kamath 9 Comments

It all started off with Airtel announcing the plans to reduce roaming rates to Rs.1.50. A week later or so, we see Vodafone’s ads showing that they too have reduced their rates to the same amount. Then we get to know that MTNL plans to reduce its STD rates to Rs.1.30 and this morning Vodafone sends its customers an SMS informing them about the new STD rates being reduced to the same as MTNL’s.

We conclude that how much ever Vodafone tries to rub off Hutch from the minds of the users, it won’t be able to. “Wherever you (competitors) go, our moves follow” is what Vodafone is trying to follow.

Aha! But one thing that evil Vodafone didn’t tell you is… you do NOT automatically get these lower rates on postpaid connections! You need to SMS STD to 56565 and then — 72 hours later — you will get this rate for outgoing STD calls in your home circle.

Now, what about reduced roaming rates? I’m still trying to find out from the MOST RELUCTANT TO SPEAK customer service!

Vodafone clearly mentioned about sending the sms STD to 56565. N it takes less than 24 hours to get activated …not 72 hours! Get your facts right before speakin jargon!
N yes..The roaming rates have been reduced effective May 12th..Check the website for the tariffs.

“Clearly?” Really? So on which page of their Delhi circle Website is it mentioned so “clearly?” I bet you need to dig down at least three or four levels to find it… if it’s there. I’m quite sure it’s not. I’ve looked high and low for it.

And I got my activation in at least three days. Not one. Or even two.

    So my facts ARE right.

Exactly. Out of the 16 circles of Vodafone/Hutch, only two circles’ websites — Maharashtra/Goa and Mumbai — have instructions on how to get STD at Rs.1.30. All over the rest of India, people have no information on how to get reduced call rates and Vodafone isn’t telling easily!

In fact, many people in NCR still think that their STD rates are automatically reduced. And they do nothing. And so their rates remain high. What are you hiding, Vodafone??

@Max: Hiding effectively is the best thing they can do. Our calling rates is the cheapest in the world and I agree that it is unethical on their part but it is the responsibility of the customers to read between the lines. Given in fine print relieves the company from any liability or losses which can occur to customers like us. So a simple thing I would suggest to bug their Customer Care numerous times. Atleast that is what their current marketing campaign says.

VODAFONE INCREASE THE STD RATE FOR PRIPAID,BUT NO NEWS ON TELEGYAAN!!!
YES VODAFONE INCREASE THE STD CAHRGES 1.30 TO 1.50 FOR ALL PRIPAID USERS
Currently Vodafone did not provide reduced STD call charges to all Pripaid Vodafone customers of Mumbai.
some time back they announce that Vodafone pripaid user make SMS STD to 56565 for Reduces STD call @1.30 but after a one month or so, they changed and now they charging 1.50 flat for all pripaid users for STD.
So the rate are increased in Pripaid vodafone from back door!!
If u like then dig it and try for official update from vodafone on that why pripaid users are not allowed for std at 1.30 as per back announcement!
